IAGETHThe 25th Colloquium of African Geology (CAG25) will be held next year (11-14 August 2014) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, under the auspices of the Geological Society of Africa (GSAf), with whom IAGETH has signed a MoU last April.

Based on these two facts (CAG25 and MoU), we decided to propose to the CAG25 organizers to include a workshop/session entitled “Geoethics: Ethics in Earth Sciences” co-convened by IAGETH and GSAf, under the coordination of our Vice-President for Africa, Prof. Lopo Vasconcelos.

We wait now for the official response of the organizers, but we believe our wishes will be fulfilled.

The Colloquium of African Geology (CAG) is a major biennial meeting organized under the auspices of the Geological Society of Africa (GSAf). Since the first Colloquium in 1965, the Colloquia have been hosted by several European and African countries. The African countries that had a chance to organize this event were Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Morocco, Mozambique, Tunisia, South Africa and Ethiopia.

This year it was decided to organize the CAG25 back to back with the 3rd YES Congress in Tanzania.
