Mensaje de Rosa de la Torre, Delegada de España en EANA y Vice-Directora de REDESPA
El pasado 13 de febrero ya anunciamos aquí que la Dra. Rosa de la Torre, Científica Superior del Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial (INTA) es la nueva Delegada de España en la European Astrobiology Network Association (EANA) en su calidad de Vicedirectora de la Red Española de Planetología y Astrobiología (REDESPA). Como apuntábamos, la Dra. De la Torre sustituye al Prof. Juan Pérez Mercader, promotor, fundador y primer Director del Centro de Astrobiología, CAB (CSIC-INTA) y una figura clave en el desarrollo de la Astrobiología, tanto en España como internacionalmente.
REDESPA se complace en ser el cauce de distribución del mensaje de la Dra. Rosa de la Torre a todos los miembros de nuestra Red y a todos aquellos interesados en la Astrobiología y Planetología.

Estimados colegas,
Es un placer dirigirme a vosotros como actual Delegada de ESPAÑA en EANA (European Astrobiology Network Association), desde Marzo 2015. Estoy a vuestra disposición para hacer llegar al Comité Ejecutivo de EANA, del que formo parte, todas las comunicaciones que queráis dejar patente.
Me gustaría que mi período como representación de España sirviera de puente entre la comunidad española en Astrobiología y Planetología con EANA para facilitar una comunicación fluída, y para que nos lleve a promover colaboraciones internacionales prósperas y exitosas.
Aprovecho para animaros a participar en el próximo congreso de EANA, que va a tener lugar en ESA-ESTEC (Noordwijk, the Netherlands) del 6 al 9 de Octubre, y que estará abierto a todos los aspectos de la astrobiología, sobre todo en el tema del año: «Astrobiología y vuelos espaciales». Toda la información necesaria la podéis encontrar aquí y aún se pueden enviar abstracts hasta el 24 de Julio.
También animo a los científicos más jóvenes a participar en el concurso de estudiantes con la temática “Space Factor” que proporcionará un gran foro para contactar con los demás estudiantes de doctorado, establecer nuevos contactos, e incluso quizá, nuevas cooperaciones.
Las contribuciones más relevantes recibirán un premio (similar a Svante Arrhenius Astrobiology Award), que entregará la presidenta de EANA, Prof. Frances Westall.

In October 2015 (6 – 9 October 2015), we will have our 15th European Workshop on Astrobiology; this time hosted in Noordwijk in the Netherlands at the ESTEC complex of the European Space Agency (ESA)

For this reason, I would like to inform that during the EANA meeting there will be a student contest – «The Space Factor» – a contest of space science students: www.eana-net.eu/Conferences/Docs_EANA15/EANA2015_contest.html
At the EANA2015 in a half-day session of the EANA 2015 workshop a group of selected PhD students will get the opportunity to introduce themselves and their research to other PhD students and interested conference participants. The student contest “Space Factor” gives young scientists a great forum to connect with other PhD students, to learn from them, to exchange thoughts, to gain new insights and ideas, and to establish new contacts and maybe even cooperations. An interdisciplinary committee board will judge the contributions of all participating PhD students and several awards (like the Svante Arrhenius Astrobiology Award) will be granted. The EANA president Prof. Dr. Frances Westall will present the winners of the awards during the EANA conference dinner.
For the selection of participants of “The Space Factor” contest interested PhD students from all fields covering space-related sciences should send in: an abstract, a detailed CV with photo, a publication record (peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings) and a short motivation letter, why the PhD student would like to participate at “The Space Factor” contest should be sent to my address (ralf.moeller@dlr.de).
Please extent this invitation and opportunity to all the young scientists in your labs (i.e., PhD-students). There will be a certain amount of travel grants available.
