The word combines the root \u00abanthropo\u00bb, meaning \u00abhuman\u00bb with the root \u00ab-cene\u00bb, the standard suffix for \u00abepoch\u00bb in geologic time. The Anthropocene is distinguished as a new period either after or within the Holocene, the current epoch, which began approximately 10,000 years ago (about 8000 BC) with the end&nbsp;of the last glacial period.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Most issues related to the scientific study and social-cultural implications in Earth and Planetary Sciences, concerning the Anthropocene require a geoethical approach.&nbsp;Thus, the last 27 July 2013, the International Association for Geoethics (IAGETH) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icog.es\/iageth\/index.php\/geoethics-and-the-anthropocene\/\">established the First International Commission on Geoethics and the Anthropocene (ICGA).<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Geoethics.Anthropocene\/?fref=ts\">this international commission is present in facebook<\/a>. In a first stage, this facebook site will be used as a repository of information, which will be free and open to anyone (papers, books, blogs, audio-visual material, etc).
