Edmund Nickells (cc: Profs.\nQiuming Cheng and Stan Finney):&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dear Prof. Nickless,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am writing you with regards to your article published in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.episodes.org\/main.html\">Episodes<\/a> Vol. 42, No. 4 entitled \u00ab<em>Report of the Ad-hoc Review of the Task Group on Global Geoscience Professionalism, September 2018<\/em>\u00ab. In particular, with regards to your final comments about the International Association for Geoethics (IAGETH).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You wrote: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1) Our (IAGETH) presence\n\u00abcovering the subject of geoethics is unhelpful\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Please, let me\nstress that nobody from the Task Group contacted us to require our inputs or\nhelp. We use to answer any message (in particular if it is an official letter\nor requirement) in less than 24 h.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2) You wrote: \u00bb IAGETH\nmight be considered to deal with the philosophical aspects of geoethics\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This is wrong.\nThere are not philosophers&nbsp;in our association. In addition, our definition\nis clearly and unequivocally (visit our website) linking geosciences and ethics\nin a practical way. For instance, we have promoted the \u00abpractical\u00bb\ndeontological codes in several countries (e.g. Spain, Russia, Mozambique) (in\nfact, before&nbsp;the Cape Town Statement).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As President of IAGETH &#8211;and\non behalf of our 49 National Chapters and members&#8211;, I regret that you have\nwritten such Report (in the way of an article), expressing wrong and unjust\ninformation about our international association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sincerely,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. Dr. Jes\u00fas Mart\u00ednez-Fr\u00edas, President, IAGETH (on behalf of the Executive Committee and 49 National Chapters)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>P.S.
