The “Casa de los Volcanes” (Lanzarote), new partner of the IAGETH

After several contacts, which were maintained by Elena Mateo, Coordinator of Environmental Issues and responsible for the “Casa de los Volcanes”, House of Volcanoes  (Lanzarote), Canary islands (Spain) and Jesús Martínez-Frías, President of IAGETH, we are happy to announce that the “Casa de los Volcanes has accepted to join IAGETH as new partner.

This partnership comprises geoethical subjects related to geological heritage, geotourism, geoparks (Lanzarote and Chinijo Islands Geopark project) and geoconservation, as well as other issues related to volcanic risk and hazards.

“The Casa de los Volcanes” (House of Volcanoes) is integrated in the network of centers of art, culture and tourism of the Cabildo Insular de Lanzarote, and its functions and competences are the following:

• Scientific research and technological development in the specific areas of volcanology and other disciplines related to the natural environment
• Manage education, dissemination and information resources on issues related to the volcanology and with the natural environment
• Promotion of local-social and economic development based on the rational use of natural and heritage resources
• Promotion of sustainable tourism based on natural environment, culture and education conservation
