IAGETH was the first international organization about geoethics which requested (20 August 2012) to join the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS).
In accordance with the IUGS official website “With 121 national members, the Union aims to promote development of the Earth sciences through the support of broad-based scientific studies relevant to the entire Earth system; to apply the results of these and other studies to preserving Earth’s natural environment, using all natural resources wisely and improving the prosperity of nations and the quality of human life; and to strengthen public awareness of geology and advance geological education in the widest sense”.
IAGETH was succesfully approved in 2013 among the affiliated organization of the IUGS.
The next IUGS 67th Executive Meeting will be held in India (February 8-10, 2014), Indian Academy of Sciences, Goa, India. Further information can be found here.
